Davis Music Notes

Hello everyone from the Davis Music Department! We’re off to a terrific start, helping to beautify the school with wonderful sounds!

Music Grading Policies (Rubric)

As you probably know, each Davis student will receive a skill grade and a behavior grade for music. Students in grades K-2 receive grades from 1-4, with 4 being the highest. Grades 3-5 receive the traditional A-F for skills, and 1-4 for behaviors. This is how the music department determines grades:

Skills:
A, 4… The student always demonstrates understanding of taught concept, always participates, always produces good sounds vocally and instrumentally.
B, 3… The student frequently demonstrates understanding of taught concept, participates most of the time, usually produces good sounds vocally and instrumentally.
C, 2… The student seldom demonstrates understanding of taught concept, participates only half of the time, rarely produces good sounds vocally and instrumentally.
F,1… The student struggles to show understanding of taught concept, never participates, and never (by choice) produces good sounds vocally and instrumentally.

Behavior:
4… Always has a good attitude; always follows all class rules.
3… Frequently has a good attitude; frequently follows all class rules.
2… Seldom has a good attitude; follows class rules only some of the time; gets “bad” note home.
1… Poor attitude; little effort; Seldom follows class rules; shows no improvement after note home.
