About Davis Elementary

Welcome to Davis Elementary—where we’re Exploring New Frontiers every day!

Located in northwest Austin, Texas, Davis Elementary is a vibrant, high-achieving campus with a strong tradition of student-centered learning and community involvement.

Founded in 1992, our school is named in honor of Will Davis—an Austin attorney and passionate advocate for public education who served as President of the Austin ISD School Board, Austin Community College Board, and Texas Association of School Boards.

Our Motto: Exploring New Frontiers

At Davis, our motto isn’t just a phrase—it’s a way of life. Innovative teaching practices, high student engagement, and a commitment to academic excellence define our approach to learning. In addition to mastering Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), students also develop social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies and global perspectives.

As a Creative Learning Initiative (CLI) campus, Davis integrates the arts and creative learning across subject areas. Through the One World Schools Anderson Vertical Team program, students also participate in Foreign Language Experience (FLEX) classes, broadening their cultural awareness and global understanding.

The Davis Way

The Davis Way is the heart of our school culture. It reflects who we are, what we value, and how we treat one another—students, staff, and families alike.

💙 Habits of Character

Kindness · Responsibility · Empathy · Perseverance · Curiosity

🎓 Habits of Scholarship

Knowledgeable · Critical Thinker & Problem Solver · Reflective & Compassionate · Creator & Innovator · Culturally Competent Citizen

Our staff models these values daily, creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for all.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

At Davis, SEL is woven into the fabric of the school day. Teachers use the Second Step SEL curriculum along with daily morning meetings, mindfulness activities, and intentional relationship-building to support the whole child.

Core SEL focus areas include:

  • Self-awareness & self-management

  • Social awareness & relationship skills

  • Executive functioning

  • Responsible decision-making

Power Skills & Project-Based Learning

We believe in preparing students for life—not just tests. That means helping them build “power skills” like creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation.

Through Project-Based Learning (PBL) and the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch program, students tackle real-world challenges and explore content through hands-on, meaningful experiences.

Our Makerspace supports this work, offering both high-tech and low-tech materials for engineering and design challenges.

Family & Community Engagement

Davis is more than a school—it’s a community. We deeply value our partnerships with parents and caregivers, and we work together to support every student’s success.

Family involvement opportunities include:

  • Volunteering in the classroom or at events

  • Attending annual school-wide events like Family Fitness Night, Monster Mash, Jog Around the World Turkey Trot, Family Culture Fair, MARE, and Ocean Olympics

  • Participating in our active PTA, which provides essential funding, volunteers, and community-building programs

Whether during the school day or after hours, we offer many ways for families to engage and connect.

See What Makes Davis Special
