Quick and easy—and just as effective. You can also include links to factual articles that support your message.
📞 Call Their Office
Calls are usually answered by an intern or aide. Keep it short and friendly. Example:
“Hi, I’m Diane Ravitch, a parent at Davis Elementary in Austin ISD. I support twice daily recess along with art and music for children up to age 9.”
🏛️ Visit the Capitol
Set up an appointment to speak with your representatives—or members of key committees—about issues you care about. They often welcome visits from parents and families.
📰 Write a Letter to the Editor
Find the editorial submission guidelines on your local newspaper’s website. Keep it short, lead with your main point, and suggest a solution to the issue you’re addressing. Editors love letters that propose constructive ideas.
